At Cherrycroft, we take a collaborative approach, working closely with families and their wider support networks, including Children’s Social Care. We offer a range of specialist services and bespoke support packages tailored to the unique needs of each child, young person, or family.

Adoption Support

We have extensive experience working with Regional Adoption Agencies, providing pre- and post-adoption support in line with the Adoption Support Fund (ASF).

Comprehensive Assessments

Many children and young people present with complex needs, so we typically begin with a multi-disciplinary assessment to gain a deep understanding of their challenges.

Therapeutic Packages

Following the assessment, we design a specialist therapy package based on attachment-focused approaches. These may include:

• Parent-child therapy or individual therapy for the child/young person
• Specialist parenting support to help caregivers manage challenges
• Review and network meetings to ensure progress is monitored
• Liaison with schools to support the child’s educational experience

Therapeutic Approaches

Our therapy models are grounded in attachment and trauma-informed care. Depending on the child’s needs, we may include:

• Sensory Integration therapy, Occupational Therapy
• Theraplay & Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP)-informed therapies
• Play Therapy 
• Emotional Literacy support
• Art Therapy
• EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing)
• Specialist parenting programmes

A key focus of our work is supporting adopted children and teenagers in processing their life stories at a pace that feels safe and appropriate. Our goal is to help them heal from early trauma in a nurturing environment, while also equipping parents with the skills and emotional resilience to support them effectively.

Support for Adults

We offer therapeutic support for:

• Adult adoptees who want a space to explore their experiences with someone who understands the complexities of adoption
• Adoptive parents struggling with mental health challenges
• Parents who have experienced an adoption breakdown, offering a compassionate space to process and heal

Support for Children in Care & Kinship Families

We provide specialist therapeutic support for:

• Children in foster care, along with their foster families and residential carers
• Children and teenagers in kinship placements or under Special Guardianship Orders (SGO)
